When author Alyssa Satin Capucilli published Biscuit in 1996, she had no idea his adventures would continue for 30 years. 1. Biscuit was inspired when Alyssa's daughter asked to babysit her neighbor's dog. 2. The name "Biscuit" came naturally. Alyssa:  I was thinking of a sweet, small, yellow puppy, and that name just popped into my head. I later wrote a story about how the actual character gets his name. And of course, he has everything he needs — a bed, a bone, a bowl, a brush — everything except a name, and we almost allow Biscuit to name himself. 3. Alyssa and illustrator Pat Schories worked separately while making the first book — and met by chance at a writing event. 4. At first, Alyssa imagined Biscuit as a single book. 5.
