XChat has been released today on X, a standalone platform for messaging for the iPad and iPhone that allows people to chat with anyone on the platform X in private, separate from X. During launch, the app will support group chat, video calls, audio, and direct messaging, along with file sharing. It will have PIN protection and will be end-to-end encrypted.
There are other features present, such as the ability to edit messages, delete them, and make disappearing messages. There is also a system made to alert and block users when someone attempts a screenshot. You need iOS 26.0 or a recent version, which can be downloaded for free.

The app has undergone testing with beta users in small groups since 2025. X declares that more updates are coming. XChat integrates the design conventions of iOS 26, such as the keyboard and other customization features, such as dark and light modes.
