A Las Vegas man has confessed to killing his wife after learning she was planning to return to their native Cuba with the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, police said. Roelmer Sanchez-Garrido, 46, was arrested early Tuesday in connection with the slaying at a home in the 4300 block of Esmeralda Avenue, near West Sahara Avenue and South Valley View Boulevard. A Metropolitan Police Department arrest report for Sanchez-Garrido identified the victim as Vanesa Rodriguez-Valdes. Police said Sanchez-Garrido called 911 at about 3 a.m. to report a medical emergency for his wife. Rodriguez-Valdes was found by paramedics dead on a bedroom floor, covered with a blanket. Police said she had bruising on her face and marks on her neck, prompting paramedics to notify police. Police said Sanchez-Garrido later confessed to killing his wife.
