Geneva: The UAE led a diplomatic effort at a key United Nations forum in Geneva that resulted in the unanimous adoption of a resolution condemning attacks on civilian telecommunications and information technology infrastructure, including submarine cables in the Gulf. The measure was passed during the council session of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), held from 28 April to 8 May 2026, marking the first time the body has formally denounced such attacks on digital infrastructure.
