Motherhood instantly shifts your focus, and for designer and new mom Ellen Van Dusen , it was an all-encompassing state of being. So when Italian glassware brand Laguna~B approached her to create a collection, mothers and their children were very much on her mind. But unlike some collaborations, where brand guidelines and marketing decks have to align, Van Dusen was given total creative freedom, even gaining access to the editor-beloved Italian brand’s rich archive. The partnership was almost kismet. Two brands so in tune with their maximalism, so aligned in their swirling and striped identities, that it felt too good to be true. “We’re both pattern, stripe, color brands,” Van Dusen says. And Laguna~B’s head of communications, Caterina Capelli, agrees. “I feel like this project wasn’t a direct transposition of Dusen Dusen textiles, but rather of their universe as a whole,” she says.
