Is reverse diet really necessary?

I have lost 30 pounds before and gained it back so this time around I really am just trying to learn as much as I can to maintain my weightloss. Is it really necessary to reverse diet and slowly increase calories back to maintainence? I’m happy with the foods I’m eating now in a deficit and I don’t feel hungry or anything. My deficit is 1,500. It’s more of me just being scared of gaining it back. I don’t wanna risk it. Why can’t you just stay in a deficit forever is there a reason behind that? I just think it would put me at peace if I got to just stay in one after weight loss aswell.
