TV tonight: Jeff Pope’s drama about the women who reported rapist John Worboys

Believe Me Sunday, 9pm, ITV1 When Sarah Adams (Aimee-Ffion Edwards, giving a bleak story real heart) takes a taxi after a mildly drunken night out, her driver seems pleasant. But John Worboys (Daniel Mays) had a regular modus operandi – a compliment, a few slightly intrusive questions, an offer of a (spiked) drink and, finally, rape. Jeff Pope’s drama mercifully largely blurs out the assault but the aftermath is barely less grim: a sensitively dramatised, step-by-step illustration of why only three out of every 100 rape and sexual assault reports proceed to charges. It’s a tale of suspicious male cops, undermining partners and an unwieldy legal system – which, in the case of Worboys, enabled more attacks. Phil Harrison Bafta Television Awards 2026 7pm, BBC One Greg Davies looms over the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall as he presents this year’s TV gongs.…
