Believe Me Sunday, 9pm, ITV1 When Sarah Adams (Aimee-Ffion Edwards, giving a bleak story real heart) takes a taxi after a mildly drunken night out, her driver seems pleasant. But John Worboys (Daniel Mays) had a regular modus operandi – a compliment, a few slightly intrusive questions, an offer of a (spiked) drink and, finally, rape. Jeff Pope’s drama mercifully largely blurs out the assault but the aftermath is barely less grim: a sensitively dramatised, step-by-step illustration of why only three out of every 100 rape and sexual assault reports proceed to charges. It’s a tale of suspicious male cops, undermining partners and an unwieldy legal system – which, in the case of Worboys, enabled more attacks.
