Researchers at Nottingham Trent University have developed a smart pillow sleeve designed to help deaf users wake up to important nighttime alerts. Unlike a typical smart pillow , the team developed a smart sleeve that is designed to fit over a standard pillow. It slips inside a normal pillowcase, and vibrates when connected alarms or calls come through. What problem does it solve? The project came out of feedback from members of the Deaf community, who told the researchers that existing under-pillow alert devices are often too bulky and uncomfortable to sleep on.
