Last July, Threads finally gave in and uncoupled its DMs from Instagram . Now, the platform is turning to another long-standing gap: bringing DMs to the web. Here are the details. Group messaging and broader rollout coming at some point Earlier today, Threads’ official account (on Threads, where else?) confirmed that DMs are finally being rolled out on the web. However, like most Meta-related rollouts , this will be a phased process, with no clear timeline for full availability. The company says users included in the initial test will see the paper plane icon on the left side menu, which opens their inbox. From there, users can start one-to-one conversations, with group chats set to follow at an unspecified later date. Threads says the same privacy settings from its in app DM system carry over, including controls over who can send messages, as well as options to restrict, block, or report users. The web version now also supports sending posts through DMs by tapping the share button, then “Send to”.…
