The Star The Otago Water Polo Club is celebrating winning at the 2026 Australian Youth Championships. The Otago Wahoos team won silver in the under-16 green division of the competition. In a statement, coaches Jacob Booth and Matt Leadbeater said the boys showed heart and resilience throughout the competition and were already looking ahead to New Zealand Nationals later in the year, where they will be aiming to turn silver into gold. “Standout performances came from Conan Tabb, Mac Menzies, Nash Gilmour and Nathan Maree. “Captain Rory Harrold was the glue of the team, making a huge impact, particularly in the quarterfinal, which went to penalties. “Finishing the tournament with a silver medal in the green division, the boys gained invaluable experience and created memories that will last a lifetime,” the coaches said. The coaches were equally proud of the girls’ team, which competed with determination in a highly competitive division.…
