Published 3:30 pm Thursday, April 23, 2026 I got out for a run on the Deschutes River Trail on what was a chillier than usual Tuesday evening this week. Some of the few walkers I saw were dressed in beanies and down jackets as the temperature dropped into the 40s and pink and purple hues were cast along a cloudy Central Oregon sky. Although it was getting dark quick, I mostly had the trail to myself on what was a beautiful evening. It was pretty neat — all I have to say, really. Enjoying it before the crowds of summer roll in. Local weather forecasts predict a brisk weekend. Temperatures are expected to vary between 30 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Skies should be clear Saturday, while there may be cloud coverage Sunday. Warmer temperatures — nearing 70 degrees — are on the horizon next week. Trails are probably getting pretty dusty by now. I would venture into the high country for the best possible riding.…
