The Hoka Mach 7 gets a mini-makeover in the looks department but the ride stays true to previous iterations. The cushioning is firm but supportive with supercritically-foamed EVA. The fit is more locked-in, yet some weren’t fans of the refined tongue. The seventh iteration of the Mach is made to look sportier with etched lines on the upper and sharp angles on the midsole. When you lace up in the Mach 7, you know it’s unlike any other Hoka. Where max-cushioned ride and a plush encompassing fit go hand-in-hand when describing a Hoka trainer , the Mach 7 turns what you know about the brand upside down. Which is why it’s still one of our favorite shoes in our testing pile. The Mach 7 is lightweight and pared down; runners who prefer a lighter option as opposed to the beefier options on a shoe rack will appreciate the Mach 7’s simplicity.
