Heard from somewhere that the draft rules have changed that Taiwan has all of a sudden taken a u turn on its years of leniency, relaxing of draft rules and length of service, and eventual transition to an all volunteer military. For years I hear all one needed for overseas draft exemption visas were ever being a permanent resident or citizen of another country for four years which one gets the certificate from their TECO or “not an embassy/consulate” in that country. And that as long as they spend more time outside Taiwan than in Taiwan which was tracked by the NIA. Ie no more than a year at a time or over 183 days total per year two years in a row. Nowadays I heard they require active proof you are still living outside ie bills, to stay in such status which digital nomads may not be able to easily produce or even those who are spending months in a third country not the country they gotten permanent residence in.…
