A man who drove over a curb and into Prospect Lake on Feb. 19 died of drowning in the “setting of fentanyl intoxication,” according to his autopsy results from the El Paso County Coroner’s Office. The coroner ruled that 39-year-old Cedric Harp’s manner of death was an accident. Colorado Springs police and firefighters were on scene within minutes of the initial report of the vehicle going into the below-freezing water around 5 p.m., according to previous Gazette reporting . Four emergency responders were treated at a hospital for cuts and hypothermia. First responders found Harp in cardiac arrest when he was removed from the vehicle, and they treated him at the scene for injuries caused by the crash.
