Consuelos warned Live with Kelly and Mark viewers on Friday’s previously recorded episode that “tick bites are sending Americans to the ER at the highest rate in nearly a decade.” After Consuelos highlighted the regions in the country with significant spikes, he listed off some of the diseases that ticks can carry, including Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. “Some can even trigger dangerous allergic reactions like the deadly Alpha-gal syndrome,” he read. Ripa then teased a segment on tick prevention that would come later on in the episode. She also revealed that she was surprised by how difficult it can be to spot a tick after getting some intel ahead of the segment. “I saw backstage what we’re supposed to look for, like what a tick looks like.
