Three candidates vie for open Family Court seat in Department S

Kristine Brewer is making her third bid for a Family Court judgeship in June. Much like her previous campaigns, the Henderson-based attorney has run much of her operation from her dining table, where she handcrafts friendship bracelets emblazoned with beads that spell out “Vote 4 Brewer.” Still, she said this go-round felt different. “Of the three candidates, I’m the best choice,” Brewer said, adding that she has participated in about 100 bench trials over her 22-year career. “I’ve been in the trenches with people. I have breadth and depth.” In the race for the Department S seat, Brewer faces Randall Forman, a Family Court hearing master who oversees domestic violence protection and juvenile delinquency cases, and criminal defense attorney Tanner Harris. Harris and Forman have both been practicing law since 2009. The race has no incumbent, as Judge Vincent Ochoa is not seeking reelection. ‘The right time’ This is Forman’s second bid for the bench.…
