Oregon State sophomore right-handed pitcher Dax Whitney is having a tremendous start to the season for the No. 9 team in the nation. The Blackfoot, Idaho native was named Wednesday to the Baseball America's midseason watch list for College Player of the Yea r and for College Pitcher of the Year . Whitney and USC's Mason Edwards were the only two pitchers included on both lists. Whitney has made seven starts this season, getting four winning decisions and zero losses. Through just over 40 innings, Whitney has an ERA of 1.55. The ace also leads Division I in strikeouts with 78. He has at-least 11 strikeouts in five different contests this season.
