Published 9:49 am Friday, May 29, 2026 The City of Bend and Bend Police Department will begin issuing citations to drivers who speed or run red lights at three intersections around Bend starting Saturday. The city and police department were previously issuing warnings for the first 45 days the red light cameras were installed. This was the first implementation of the Automated Traffic Enforcement program , designed to improve road safety and cut down on crashes. Between April 23 and May 18, 1,164 warnings were issued. Cameras at SE Reed Market Road and Third Street, NE Neff Road and 27th Street and U.S. Business 97 and Powers Road went live May 15. Citations will be issued through the mail. Signs to alert drivers of the cameras were placed near the intersections, as well as on major roads entering Bend. When cameras capture a driver either speeding or running a red light, the image is sent to a Bend Police Department Traffic Enforcement Agent, who determines whether to issue a citation.…
