Anthony Edwards will watch the rest of the first-round series from the sideline.
Minnesota’s star shooting guard suffered a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee in the second quarter of the Timberwolves’ win on Saturday at Target Center, according to ESPN. He will miss multiple weeks.
It’s similar to the injury Nikola Jokic and Cam Johnson suffered in the regular season. Both of the Nuggets missed roughly a month.
Edwards entered the series dealing with a nagging issue in his right knee.
Minnesota has a chance to end the series in five games at Ball Arena on Monday. If Denver can extend the series, there are two days off before Thursday’s Game 6 in Minnesota. A potential Game 7 would be Saturday in Denver.
The Timberwolves will also be without Donte DiVincenzo, who suffered a torn Achilles in the first quarter of Saturday’s game.
