Coronation Street villain makes show confession in first interview after shock exit

00:32

Coronation Street actor James Cartwright has revealed he cried after filming a scene in the soap tackling domestic abuse.

Cartwright’s abusive character Theo Silverton pushed a kebab into the face of his husband Todd Grimshaw, as part of the show’s domestic abuse storyline.

The actor, whose character has been murdered following weeks of suspense, appeared on ITV’s This Morning on Monday (4 May) to discuss his shock exit.

He said:” I was holding the back of his (Todd’s) neck, and as you would in the scene, he was trying to pull away, and I was pushing the kebab... and then I got in the car on my lunchtime and I had a little cry, just because It was a release.”
