Fiji Airways is dropping its newest and longest route to the United States, under two years after launching the service. The 6,625-mile flight has been the longest sector in the carrier’s network, and it was clearly motivated by Fiji Airways joining the oneworld alliance , plus the carrier’s closer partnership with American (including Fiji Airways using American AAdvantage as its loyalty program ). The airline has now revealed that this route will be cut as of September 7, 2026. In the announcement about this change, the airline cites high fuel costs and changing demand patterns when explaining these updates. Officially the route is “suspended,” but I’d be willing to bet it doesn’t make a comeback.…
