She began her legal career at a non-profit law firm providing representation to eligible clients in state and Federal administrative proceedings and in state, county, and state appellate courts. In 2001, she entered Federal service as an attorney advisor in the Medicare Division in the Office of the Chief Administrative Law Judge, at the Social Security Administration. By 2004, she was promoted to supervisory attorney in the Medicare Division, where she successfully managed the transfer of the Medicare administrative hearing process from the Social Security Administration to the Department of Health and Human Services.
