Man charged with attempted murder after car hit pedestrians in town centre

A 40-year-old man has been charged with five counts of attempted murder after a car hit a group of pedestrians in a town centre, leaving one man with life-threatening injuries. Nottinghamshire Police said the incident involved a red Vauxhall Astra and happened in Market Place, Arnold, on Saturday morning at 1.12am, following an “altercation” in the town centre a short time earlier. A group of people was struck by the vehicle, with one man suffering life-threatening injuries and four other men sustaining less serious injuries. The car was abandoned at the scene following the incident, with the driver subsequently fleeing on foot. The force said Duane Anthony, 40, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified and driving without valid insurance.
