Chennedy Carter scored 18 points, and the Las Vegas Aces beat the Japan National Team 94-78 on Sunday at Michelob Ultra in their WNBA preseason opener.

After a season away from the WNBA, it was Carter’s first WNBA game since 2024.

Jackie Young added 17 points and Chelsea Gray scored 16 points.

The Aces were without four-time league MVP A’ja Wilson, who was listed as out with a right arm injury. Aces coach Becky Hammon said there were no long-term concerns and that her absence was precautionary.

Wilson participated in the full warmup prior to the game.

Mai Yamamoto led Japan with 18 points, including 4-of-5 shooting from the 3-point line in the first half.
