Florence Pugh is to star in and produce “The Midnight Library,” the long-awaited film adaptation of Matt Haig’s bestselling novel. Studiocanal and Blueprint Pictures — who first optioned the book in 2020 — have also attached Garth Davis (“Lion”) to direct the feature, from a screenplay by Olivier-winning Laura Wade (“Rivals,” “The Riot Club”) and Olivier and Tony nominee Nick Payne (“We Live in Time,” “The Sense of an Ending”). The film is set to go into pre-production this autumn, with shooting to commence at the start of 2027. Studiocanal is launching worldwide sales at the 2026 Cannes market and will release the film theatrically across their territories of the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Benelux, Australia and New Zealand.
