I recently bought a 70L backpacking pack, and I’ve been told it’s a good idea to put it inside a duffel/travel cover when flying so the straps and buckles don’t get damaged if I have to check it etc. My concern is that I’ll be backpacking afterward and won’t have much extra space to carry a bulky duffel around. Do people actually do this, and if so, are there any inexpensive travel covers or packable duffel-style bags that fold down small enough to stash in my pack once I arrive? Most of what I’ve found online are rain covers, but I’m looking for more of a protective airline travel cover that fully encloses the pack. Any recommendations or general advice would be appreciated.
