I know CI is already a popular language learning method on here, but I wanted to make a post gushing about how effective it really is! A few months ago, I decided to challenge myself by watching LatAm telenovelas to develop my vocabulary. Granted, I grew up around Spanish so I already had some familiarity, but tbh I couldn’t understand much outside of miscellaneous words and intro-level conversations. I started with Betty la Fea, and it was hard at first, but my brain was able to pick up on words and phrases from context and I was able to follow along relatively well. Now that I’m rewatching the show (I ended up falling in love with it lol) I’m stunned by how much I can understand! Before I could understand 50-70% (on a good day). Now it’s about 90-100%. I cannot emphasize enough how transformative it has been for my Spanish. I’m able to have conversations based on words, phrases, and sentence structures I’ve picked up from obsessively watching the show.…
