Jharkhand High Court news: Slamming the railways for their “insensitive” and “harsh” decision to terminate a 76-year-old widow’s licence within a year of its renewal, the Jharkhand High Court recently directed railway authorities to immediately restore her food stall at Ranchi Railway Station. Chief Justice M S Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar allowed the petition filed by Kalawati Devi and observed that the authorities were expected to be sensitive to social realities before terminating her licence and forcing her into a decade-long legal battle.
