Just started listening to the new audio book series and noticed that on Harry's book list it says that first years require Newt Scamanders fantastic beasts and where to find them. But care for magical creatures isn't one of the first years subjects. They start with the subject in year three. And even then, they are required to get the monster book of monsters... So what was the point of making it a requirement to buy fantastic beasts? Thinking of families like the Weasleys with loads of kids and hardly any money, it seems a bit shitty to make them buy books that the kids don't really need...
