They say things they don’t mean. Some words land harder than others, but eventually people calm down and everything fades by the next day. At least that’s what I believed. “They were personal, your words.” she added. I didn’t quite get what she was getting at. Because in my head, I wasn’t attacking. I was defending. I was just throwing back stones that had been thrown at me first. They started it. I’m only finishing it. That was fair. Just. I wasn’t cruel, I was reacting. But the look on her face said something else. She was hurt. She said she had felt something different. There is always more hurt, more hate by the next argument. It wasn’t hard to notice the change. But lately, I have started to wonder if she was right.…
