Less than 48 hours after speaking to SPIN, MC Eiht learned his Compton’s Most Wanted brother, DJ Mike T, had died. As one of its earliest members, Mike T had formed a tight friendship with Eiht that endured decades. Mike T is the first of the CMW clique to die, a sobering blow to Eiht, who is only in his early 50s. “RIP family,” he wrote in an Instagram caption. “My bro. My DJ. My friend. Man tomorrow is lost. Live for today. All my peoples live for today. Tell ya peoples you love ’em dearly.” While Mike T didn’t directly contribute to Eiht’s magnum opus and debut solo single, 1993’s “Streiht Up Menace,” he was instrumental in helping put Compton’s Most Wanted on the map.
