Soooo, I very much appreciate the comments on my previous post! It’s been really fun getting to learn Bass coming from Guitar and how similar yet different it is. But it’s time to change the strings on my guitars and now I come with a completely different set of questions…

How often do you change your strings? What brand do you use when you do? What kind? Does boiling them really work, how? Are flatwounds worth it?

For guitar, I usually replace the strings like twice a year.

For reference, it’s an Austin Classic Double Cuttaway, and I got it from an older gentleman off marketplace who had it set up for, if I remember correctly, Jazz? He was talking to me and had the bass in hand with no way to take notes 😭. But he set the bass up and I’m hesitant to mess with it. Right now it sounds amazing, just wondering about maintenance ig
