We've all probably had moments when we see or hear something we know isn't there. But when it comes to schizophrenic people, they hear delusions that only exist in their reality but not anyone else's. How is this possible? How does their brain come up with one or multiple voices? My understanding of sound is that we only hear things that are external (excluding people who have inner voice/monologue). So for them to constantly hear voices from within doesnt make sense, especially when they truly believe those voices are real. My confusion comes from: voices are external because they come from our external reality. However schizophrenic people have these voices from within. How is that possible? submitted by /u/LemonCurdJ [link] [comments]
