ELI5- We live in California, U.S. & there's a statewide ban on menthol & flavored tobacco products. Even before the ban, I was always told menthol cigarettes were worse for your lungs than regular cigarettes. But there's menthol in cough drops, analgesics, etc. Is it the combination of menthol with tobacco that makes it so unsafe, but on its own it's fine?
