It's the first taste of the star's eighth studio album Petal Ariana Grande has released “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” the first single from her upcoming album Petal . The song was produced by her long-time collaborator Ilya alongside Max Martin. The buoyant pop song sees Grande reflecting on a lost love who may have had stronger feelings for her than she did for them. “Hate that I made you love me,” she croons over a shimmering, ambient instrumental backdrop. “Sorry if I made me your type/ Yeah, I hate that I made you love me/ ‘Cause I barely tried.” An official music video for “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” directed by Christian Breslauer, will premiere on Monday, June 1 at 8 a.m. PST. Beyond the lead single, not much is currently known about Grande’s eighth album Petal , except that it was executive produced and co-written by Grande and Ilya.
