Wrexham missed out on the EFL Championship playoffs after they were held to a 2–2 home draw by Middlesbrough on the final day of the season. The Red Dragons knew no result was guaranteed to secure a sixth-place finish, and they missed out after Hull City defeated Norwich City. It meant Wrexham finished seventh in the table on 71 points, two behind the Tigers in the final playoff position. Even though there was naturally a slight sense of disappointment at full time, it was outweighed by a huge sense of pride as Wrexham secured the best finish in the club’s 162-year history.
