MILWAUKEE — Spencer Jones is in the hit column. In the third game of his major league career, Jones recorded his first hit, smoking an RBI single to center field off Brewers righty Logan Henderson to double the Yankees’ lead on Sunday afternoon at American Family Field. The Yankees quickly secured the ball, which came off Jones’ bat at 106.4 mph, for safekeeping. Henderson threw a first-pitch slider and Jones pounced on it, roping it to center to score José Caballero from second for the 2-0 lead. The milestone hit came with Jones’ mom and family sitting next to the Yankees’ dugout, as they have all weekend, including his MLB debut on Friday night.
