The Washington softball team finished its Big Ten tournament run Thursday, falling 9-2 to Indiana in the quarterfinals in College Park, Maryland. After winning its first ever Big Ten tournament game Wednesday, Washington (36-18) struggled to find its offensive footing on Thursday, scoring its first run in the top of the fifth. Indiana (42-13) took a 3-0 lead in the third before Alexis DeBoer delivered on a two-RBI single to cut the IU lead to a run. Indiana scored three more in the fifth and sealed the deal on Alex Cooper’s three-run home run in the sixth to earn a spot in the semifinals Friday against top seed Nebraska (44-6). The Huskies will turn their focus to the NCAA selection show at 4 p.m. Pacific Sunday. • San Diego (19-30) scored seven runs in the first inning and held on for a 7-6 victory over visiting Seattle U in the opener of their three-game series.
