Rita Wilson is hardly the first Hollywood actress who’s complained of a dearth of interesting parts for women, or to have met that by realizing that she might have to proactively create challenging roles for herself. What sets her further apart is that she’s taken to creating these parts in song . And yes, as a producer of film and TV, too, but for the moment, her focus is on the work she’s creating as a singer-songwriter, with her sixth album just out.
