One of the biggest lies in tech is that the best developers are always the smartest people in the room. Sometimes they are. Most of the time, they are just the people who didn’t quit during the frustrating part. And the frustrating part lasts way longer than most people expect. Learning to Code Feels Terrible at First Nobody really talks about how awkward the beginning is. You watch tutorials and everything makes sense... until you try to build something alone. Suddenly you forget basic syntax. Your CSS breaks for no reason. Your API returns an error you’ve never seen before. You spend two hours debugging something only to realize you misspelled a variable name. Then you open social media and see developers posting things like: “Just built an AI SaaS in a weekend” “Here’s my 7th startup this year” “I became a senior engineer in 18 months” Meanwhile, you’re fighting for your life trying to center a div.
