The Metropolitan Police Department on Tuesday said a man who was shot by an officer near an off-Strip hotel early Saturday had pointed a BB gun at the officer moments before the shooting. Mitchell Nettles, 43, was arrested following a foot pursuit that originated in the 4500 block of Arville Street, between West Harmon and West Tropicana avenues, and ended near The Orleans, Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren told reporters during a briefing Tuesday at Metro headquarters. Nettles faces charges of assault on a protected person with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed dangerous weapon without a permit and resisting a public officer with a dangerous weapon, according to online court records. Koren said Nettles was armed with a BB gun that resembled a Glock handgun.…
