Starmer says Polanksi 'not fit to lead' political party after 'disgraceful' Golders Green policing comment

00:49

Sir Keir Starmer has called out Zack Polanksi for his “disgraceful” criticism of the Metropolitan Police following the Golders Green stabbings.

The Green Party leader shared a social media post which alleged that the officers who arrested the suspect “repeatedly and violently kicked a mentally ill man in the head” when he was already incapacitated.

Mr Polanksi has since apologised for the post, stating that he shared it “in haste”.

Appearing on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Saturday, Sir Keir said he understood the actions of the police officers.

He added: “You have to make a decision in that split moment according to the situation as you understand it to be. And for politicians to wade in, as Zack Polanski did, is disgraceful. He’s not fit to lead any political party.”
