Samsung recently unveiled that it’s been working alongside furniture manufacturer and retailer IKEA towards the integration of the Samsung SmartThings ecosystem with the latter’s new smart home product ecosystem, in a bid to give users more freedom in building up their smart home setup. This includes support for IKEA’s Matter-over-Thread smart home devices such as smart electric plugs and light bulbs, temperature and humidity sensors, which will be able to work directly with the SmartThings hub, and other devices from Samsung and third-party brands supported by the platform. For example, data picked up by IKEA air sensors or door sensors will be visible on the SmartThings app, which makes for a more convenient all-in-one stop for device and data management. Samsung says that it worked with IKEA to conduct multiple rounds of validation for improved connectivity, along with implementing a dedicated user experience within the SmartThings app.…
