Have you ever wondered why there's no "Weird Al" Broadway musical in the works? Well, now there is! According to Playbill , Dare To Be Stupid  (titled after his 1985 album) is officially in development, helmed by writers Scott Brown and Anthony King, who did Beetlejuice and Gutenberg! The Musical! , as well as producer Alex Timbers ( Moulin Rouge!) . "Ever since I was a middle-aged man, I've always wanted to be a part of the New York theatre community," Yankovic says in a very serious statement. "Plus, the one thing people always say about Broadway is that it's 'severely lacking in Weird Al-based entertainment,' and I think this musical should fix that problem immediately." Timbers adds, "I first fell in love with Al’s music with the release of Dare To Be Stupid and have remained an avid fan ever since.
