April 29, 2026 - 10:47 am A 26-year-old man is facing several traffic-related charges after an “intersection takeover” attempt Sunday morning in the northwest Las Vegas Valley. Albert Alonzo was arrested on two counts of disregard for safety of persons or property and one count of reckless driving/trick driving display, each a gross misdemeanor, according to the Metropolitan Police Department booking log and court records. He also was charged with driving without a license, no proof of insurance and operating an expired or unregistered vehicle. As crowds left sanctioned events at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, “some attempted to take over intersections across the valley — putting drivers, spectators, and the community at risk,” Metro said on X. “A vehicle takes over an intersection at Tropical Parkway and Celebration Way around 12:30 a.m.,” the post continued. “Our air unit tracks the suspect vehicle from above … until the car crashes.…
