My Dental Journey:

I walked into the dentist’s expecting bad news.

like last time.

Two years ago, I’d been stressed, depressed, drinking too much coffee, barely eating properly, and doing the bare minimum to get through university.

I brushed my teeth, but that was it: no flossing, no water, no technique.

It had been almost two years since my last appointment.

So when my dentist looked at me and said, “This is actually an improvement,”

I was kinda shocked.

There was still some tartar.

I’m naturally prone to it, especially on the inside of my lower teeth — but it was less than before.

The cleaning didn’t hurt as much as the last time.

For the first time in a long time, I felt proud of myself.

Not perfect, not transformed. Just quietly proud.

That tiny moment did something to my mental health.

It made me realise that taking care of my teeth was also a way of taking care of me.
