You may have heard “greedy out-of-town developers” are behind this project. That’s false. My wife and I own Thornburgh. My great-grandfather moved here in the late 1920s. I bought the land from my grandparents, Eva and Everett Thornburgh, who ran cattle there from 1953 onward. My mother graduated from Redmond High, as did five of my children. A sixth graduates at Ridgeview next month. My family has been here nearly 100 years, on this land for 70. Opponents pretend Thornburgh is just working through its approvals. That’s false. Thornburgh is a fully entitled resort approved under Oregon Goal 8 and ORS 197.435–197.467, created in 1987 to approve resort development in planned locations to sustain rural economies.…
