May 14, 2026 - 1:58 pm Several schools in North Las Vegas went into lockdown Thursday after an incident involving an armed suspect near Legacy High School, the North Las Vegas Police Department said. “North Las Vegas Police responded to the area near Legacy High School this morning regarding an active law enforcement incident involving a suspect believed to be armed,” said officer Roberto Vaquera in an email. “As officers worked to safely contain and search for the individual, nearby schools were briefly placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution.” Police said in an email just after 1 p.m. that the situation had been contained and there was no threat to the public.
