Before getting into the post, I searched the sub to confirm throwback TWS posts are allowed (see: https://www.reddit.com/r/skateboarding/s/FE3Fri1zzE) Ripped this out of a 2009 edition of Transworld skateboarding back in the day. Kept it tucked away ever since. At the time, the last paragraph really stuck with me. Reading it again nearly 20 years on, I’m struck by how relevant the entire thing feels. RIP Eric Stricker, who passed away in late 2009, less than a year after this was published. “As long as we hold that beautiful, handpicked concoction of wood, metal, and urethane so close to our hearts for the shear purpose of camaraderie, worldly experience, and achievement of feeling, we are the richest people walking the face of the Earth. Even if we come to grips with the fact that kickflipping up a curb’s not about to get any easier.” submitted by /u/PhylobVance [link] [comments]
