A person died after being struck by a vehicle near Routt and Baystate avenues Tuesday, according to a news release by Pueblo police.

Officers responded to the intersection shortly before 10:30 p.m. for a report of a disturbance and discovered a person lying in the road.

The person was taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead, according to police.

The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office will release the person’s name after notifying the decedent’s family.

The vehicle involved in the crash fled before police arrived, and investigators did not release a description of the vehicle.

An investigation by police is ongoing.
